Web Design
A showcase of my WordPress design and content creation portfolio.
The very first experience I had as a webmaster was back in 1998 when I built my first site for what would become 4th Wall Events. I used basic “free” website tools back in the day. Somewhere around 2001 I got a copy of Microsoft Front Page and went to town. Eventually, Dreamweaver became the authoring tool of choice. Finally, I found a home with WordPress and never looked back. I have 6 sites currently operating using WordPress.
Second Life Botanical Gardens
URL: http://http://www.slbotanicalgardens.com/
Build out: December 2016
Pages: 1
WordPress Theme: The Core
Content: all site copy, photography, and images by me. Artwork displayed is also me.
Customization: This was my first site using The Core and their Visual Page Builder and I’m now a fan, what an amazing tool. I’ll build everything on this platform from now on.
Pilonidal Support Alliance
URL: http://www.pilonidal.org/
Build out: February 2016
Pages: 58
WordPress Theme: Prestige
Content: all site content written by me. Yes, all 58 pages.
Customization: This was a huge project (see the UX post as well) to rebuild and re-evaluate that much content. The site uses Google Analytics, Yoast SEO, Envira Gallery, Simple Tooltips, HTML Syntax Editor Highlighter, and Font Awesome plugins. Site traffic is approx 87k per month from all over the world.
Needs a Bracelet
URL: http://www.needsabracelet.com/
Build out: March 2015
Pages: 6
WordPress Theme: Jewelry Shop
Content: all site content written by me.
Customization: All of the graphics were created by me. This is still a test project for affiliate marketing that I haven’t paid enough attention to, but I love the design of the site. Currently it only uses WooCommerce since it isn’t really an active store.
Valerie’s Body Restoration
URL: http://www.valeriesbodyrestoration.com/
Build out: January 2015
Pages: 1
WordPress Theme: Awaken
Content: all site content written by me.
Customization: all of the graphics were created by me except the services icon. This site uses Yoast SEO, Google Analytics, and Yelp Reviews plugins. I used a one page site theme because most of Valerie’s traffic is coming from mobile users and we wanted to get them to the critical “pricing” and “book now” sections right away without additional page load times or needing to click on anything. I also added in Google mapping so new customers can quickly see where she is located.
New Blues Festival
URL: http://newbluesfestival.com/
Build out: September 2015
Pages: 6
WordPress Theme: Shindig Progression
Customization: all of the graphics were created by me except the logo. I also added WooCommerce for ticket and vendor booth sales. Plugins used are Yoast SEO, Google Analytics, Newsletter and WooCommerce. The mailing list/newsletter collection function has been huge for building up a fan base for ticketing early-bird sales next year. The existing mailing list was tripled with this addition.
